He earned his post-doctoral degree (habilitation) in physical sciences, geophysics, atmospheric physics (Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences) in 1998. The title of the dissertation: The Fine-Scale Structure of Cumulus Clouds. Doctor of natural sciences in the field of geophysics, Institute of Geophysics. Polish Academy of Sciences (IGF PAN), 1988. The title of the dissertation: The Behaviour of Cooling Tower and Chimney Plumes in Various Weather Conditions with Particular Emphasis on Mixing Processes. Dissertation supervisor: Prof. Krzysztof Haman. Master of Science in Physics, specialization: atmospheric physics, University of Warsaw, Faculty of Physics, 1982. The title of the dissertation: The Altitude of Emissions from Chimneys under Various Weather Conditions. Dissertation supervisor: Prof. Krzysztof Haman. From 2020 – Chairman of the Interdisciplinary Advisory Team for the Climate Crisis to the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Director of the Institute of Geophysics, Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw. In the years 2002-2013 – the Head of the Department of Atmospheric Physics, Institute of Geophysics, Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw.


Co-founder, author, editor of the Nauka o Klimacie (Climate Science) portal, co-author of the book under the same title. Laureate of the Science Popularizer 2017 competition in the “Team” category. Co-author of the film on global warming “You Can Panic”, in which he warns of the impending climate catastrophe.
